A QR Code (Quick Response Code) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information like website URLs, plain text, contact details, or Wi-Fi credentials. When scanned with a smartphone camera, it instantly connects the offline world to digital content.
No. All QR codes generated on QR-Verse - both static and dynamic - never expire. Static codes work forever because the data is embedded directly in the pattern. Dynamic codes remain active as long as your account exists. We do not impose artificial expiration dates or scan limits on any plan.
Yes! All QR codes generated on our platform are free to use for commercial and personal projects. Static codes have unlimited scans. The free plan includes 1 dynamic QR code - upgrade to Pro for unlimited dynamic codes.
Static QR Codes embed data directly and cannot be changed. Dynamic QR Codes store a short URL to redirect users, allowing you to edit the destination anytime and track scans. The free plan includes unlimited static codes and 1 dynamic code.
QR codes encode data into a grid of black and white squares. When you point your smartphone camera at a QR code, the built-in decoder reads the pattern, extracts the data (a URL, text, Wi-Fi credentials, etc.), and performs the corresponding action - like opening a website or connecting to a network. No special app is needed on modern smartphones.
QR-Verse supports over 20 QR code types including: URL links, Wi-Fi network sharing, vCard digital business cards, email, SMS, WhatsApp, phone calls, social media profiles, PDF files, app store links, event details, location/maps, payment links (PayPal, Venmo), multi-link pages, and more. Each type is optimized for its specific use case.
No. You can create and download static QR codes instantly without creating an account. However, signing up (free) unlocks Dynamic QR codes with editable destinations, scan analytics, team management, and campaign tracking.
A standard QR code can store up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters or 7,089 numeric digits. However, the more data you encode, the denser (and harder to scan) the QR code becomes. For long URLs, we recommend using a Dynamic QR code, which stores only a short redirect URL regardless of how long the destination is.
Creating a QR code is free on QR-Verse. Simply go to the Create page, select the QR code type you need (URL, text, WiFi, vCard, etc.), enter your content, customize the design if you wish, and download your QR code. No sign-up or credit card is required for static QR codes. The free plan also includes 1 dynamic QR code with scan analytics.
To generate a QR code for a website, go to QR-Verse's Create page, select the URL type, paste your website address (e.g. https://example.com), and click Generate. You can customize colors, add your logo, and download in PNG or SVG format. For websites that may change, use a Dynamic QR code so you can update the destination URL anytime without reprinting.
Yes. Copy the sharing link from your Google Form, go to QR-Verse's Create page, select the URL type, paste the Google Forms link, and generate your QR code. When someone scans the code, the form opens directly on their phone. This works for any web-based form or survey, including Google Forms, Microsoft Forms, Typeform, and SurveyMonkey.
Use QR-Verse's vCard QR code type to create a digital business card. Enter your name, job title, company, phone number, email, and website. When scanned, the contact information is automatically saved to the recipient's phone. For a modern approach, you can also create a Multi-Link QR code that opens a mini landing page with all your contact details and social media profiles.
Google Chrome can generate a basic QR code for the current page URL, but it offers no customization, analytics, or dynamic features. QR-Verse is a dedicated QR code platform that provides over 25 QR code types, color and logo customization, dynamic QR codes with editable destinations, real-time scan analytics, and high-resolution PNG/SVG exports - all free to use.
On iPhone (iOS 11+), simply open your Camera app and point it at the QR code. A notification banner will appear - tap it to open the link. On Android (9+), open the Camera app or Google Lens and aim at the QR code. Most modern smartphones scan QR codes natively without needing a separate app. You can also scan QR codes from screenshots or images saved in your photo library.
Yes. On iPhone, open the screenshot in your Photos app, and use the built-in Live Text feature (iOS 15+) to detect and open QR codes. On Android, open the screenshot in Google Lens or your Gallery app's built-in scanner. Google Chrome on both platforms also lets you scan QR codes from images. This is useful for scanning QR codes received in messages, emails, or social media.

Features & Customization
Can I add my logo to the QR Code?
Absolutely. Our generator allows you to upload a custom logo, which is placed in the center of the QR code. We ensure the code remains scannable by maintaining the necessary error correction levels.
What formats can I download?
We support high-resolution PNG for digital use and SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) for professional printing. SVG is recommended for billboards, merchandise, and large-format print to ensure perfect clarity.
Can I change the color of the QR Code?
Yes, you can fully customize the foreground (dots) and background colors. We recommend using a dark foreground on a light background (high contrast) to ensure the best scanning reliability across all devices.
What is the "Error Correction" feature?
Error Correction allows a QR code to be scanned even if part of it is damaged or covered (e.g., by a logo). We automatically set the optimal level (usually High or Quartile) when you add a logo to ensure functionality.
Do you offer bulk generation?
Yes. Pro and Business plan users can access the QR-Verse API for programmatic bulk generation. The web interface also supports CSV batch creation for generating hundreds of codes at once. Business plans include up to 5,000 API calls per day, while Pro plans offer 50 daily calls. For higher-volume enterprise needs, contact our support team for custom limits.
Can I track how many times my QR code is scanned?
Yes, all Dynamic QR codes come with a free analytics dashboard. You can see total scans, unique scans, scan locations (city and country), device types (iOS vs Android), browser information, and scan patterns over time. Static QR codes do not include tracking since scans happen directly on the user's device.
Can I change the destination of my QR code after printing?
Yes - this is the key advantage of Dynamic QR codes. You can change the destination URL, update content, or redirect to a completely different page at any time without reprinting the physical QR code. This is especially useful for seasonal promotions, event updates, or correcting mistakes.
Can I create a QR code for my WiFi network?
Yes. Our WiFi QR code generator creates a scannable code that stores your network name (SSID), password, and encryption type (WPA2/WPA3). When guests scan it, their phone automatically connects to your network - no typing required. Perfect for homes, cafes, hotels, and offices.
What is the minimum size for a scannable QR code?
For close-range scanning (e.g., business cards, flyers), the minimum recommended size is 2 x 2 cm (0.8 x 0.8 inches). For scanning from a distance, use the rule of thumb: the QR code should be at least 1/10th of the scanning distance. A billboard scanned from 3 meters away needs a QR code at least 30 cm wide.
How do WiFi QR codes work?
A WiFi QR code encodes your network name (SSID), password, and encryption type (WPA2/WPA3) into a standardized format. When a guest scans the code with their smartphone camera, the phone automatically reads the credentials and offers to connect to the network - no manual password typing needed. Create one on QR-Verse by selecting the WiFi type and entering your network details.
Can I create a QR code for payments?
Yes. QR-Verse supports several payment QR code types. You can create QR codes for PayPal.me links, Venmo payment requests, or any payment URL from services like Stripe, Square, or bank transfer apps. For European users, you can also encode EPC/SEPA payment data directly into a QR code that opens the banking app with pre-filled transfer details.
Billing & Plans
Is this service really free?
QR-Verse offers a generous free plan: unlimited static QR codes, 1 dynamic QR code, and basic analytics. Pro (€4.99/mo) unlocks unlimited dynamic codes, full analytics, AI art, SVG/WebP exports, and more. No credit card required to start.
Are there any limits on scans?
No. We offer unlimited scans for all QR codes. Whether you have 10 scans or 10 million, your codes will continue to work perfectly at no cost.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No credit card is required. You can start creating static QR codes instantly without even creating an account. Signing up is free and unlocks dynamic QR codes with editable destinations, scan analytics, and team management. If you choose to upgrade to Pro or Business later, you can use a credit card, and cancel anytime with no commitment.
How does QR-Verse make money if it is free?
We sustain the platform through optional premium features for businesses (custom domains, team management, advanced analytics), non-intrusive partner recommendations, and enterprise plans. The core QR code creation and tracking features will always be free.
Are there watermarks on the free QR codes?
No. QR codes generated on QR-Verse are completely clean - no watermarks, no branding, no "powered by" labels. The codes are yours to use however you like, whether for personal or commercial purposes.
Troubleshooting
My QR Code is not scanning. What should I do?
First, check the contrast; dark on light is best. Second, ensure the QR code is not too complex (too many dots) by shortening the URL or data. Third, make sure the size is appropriate for the scanning distance (minimum 2x2 cm for close range).
The logo is blocking the scan.
Try reducing the size of your logo or choosing a higher Error Correction level if available. The logo should never cover the three large square finder patterns ("eyes") in the corners of the QR code, as scanners rely on these to orient the code. As a rule of thumb, the logo should occupy no more than 20-25% of the total QR code area. If problems persist, try simplifying the logo to fewer colors or a simpler shape.
Why does the SVG file look different in my browser?
Some browsers interpret SVG clipping paths and rendering differently, which can cause minor visual discrepancies. When opened in professional design software like Adobe Illustrator, Figma, or Affinity Designer, the vector paths render correctly. For the most accurate preview, open the SVG in your final design tool rather than a web browser. If you need a quick visual check, PNG format renders identically everywhere.
My QR code works on iPhone but not on Android (or vice versa).
This is rare but can happen with very complex or low-contrast QR codes. Ensure your code has strong contrast (dark on light), is at least 2x2 cm, and test with both iOS and Android devices before printing at scale. If using a Dynamic QR code, verify the redirect URL is accessible and not blocked by mobile firewalls.
My Dynamic QR code is showing the wrong page.
Log into your QR-Verse account and check the destination URL in your QR code settings. The most common causes are: a typo in the URL, the destination page was moved or deleted, or browser caching is showing an old version. Try clearing your browser cache or testing in an incognito/private window.
Can a QR code be too small to scan?
Yes. If a QR code is printed too small or the data it encodes makes it very dense, scanners may struggle. The minimum recommended size is 2x2 cm for close-range scanning. For dense codes (long URLs, vCards with many fields), increase the size proportionally. Always test before printing at scale.
Security
Do you track data from my scanned codes?
For Static QR Codes, we do not track any scan data. The interaction happens directly between the user's device and the data embedded in the code. We respect your privacy and that of your users.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use industry-standard encryption for all data transmission. We do not sell your personal data or the content of your QR codes to third parties.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, you can request full account deletion from your profile settings at any time. This permanently removes all personal data, saved QR code designs, analytics history, and team associations from our servers. The process is irreversible, so we recommend exporting any QR codes or analytics data you need before submitting the request. Deletion is processed within 30 days in compliance with GDPR.
Are QR codes safe to scan?
QR codes themselves are safe - they are just data carriers, like barcodes. However, a malicious actor could create a QR code that links to a phishing website or malware download. Always check the URL preview on your phone before opening it, and be cautious of QR codes on random stickers in public places. QR-Verse codes are always safe because we control the redirect infrastructure.
What is "Quishing" and how do I protect against it?
Quishing (QR phishing) is when attackers place malicious QR codes over legitimate ones - for example, sticking a fake QR code over a restaurant menu code. To protect yourself: always check the URL preview before tapping, look for signs of tampering on physical codes, and use a trusted QR code generator like QR-Verse that provides branded, verified short URLs.
Can QR codes contain viruses?
A QR code cannot directly install a virus on your phone. However, it can link to a malicious website that attempts to trick you into downloading malware. Modern smartphones show a URL preview before opening, giving you a chance to verify the destination. Legitimate QR codes from trusted sources (like QR-Verse) are completely safe.
Is it safe to share my WiFi password via QR code?
Yes, sharing WiFi via QR code is as safe as giving someone the password verbally or on paper - the QR code simply encodes the same credentials in a scannable format. For maximum security, use WPA2 or WPA3 encryption, set up a separate guest network to isolate visitors from your private devices, and avoid placing WiFi QR codes in publicly accessible exterior locations.
